I have a 1998 Bonneville with a 3.8L. I went outside to start my car and all it was doing was rolling over. Finally 5 hours later I tryed again and it started up. I shut it off and tryed to restart but now it will not even roll over. I got the test light out and the whole top half of the fuse box is dead. The top consist of fuel pump ignition reverse lights blinkers. (None of these work). The bottom half of the fuse box works like radio & headlights. I checked all the grounds, put cables from negative post to metal on the motor and nothing. I checked battery cables. I rolled the car over with a screw driver on the starter and that worked. ??????

By checked, do you mean the wiggle test? Or did you check the cables themselves, they have been known to corrode under the insulation of the wire.

Do you have power at the main power distribution center under the hood?

I got a test light out and tested everything. I will have to check down in the insulation. I was told by a fellow co-worker to check my fuseable links, the ones on the battery, starter and on the fire wall. I am at work right now so can not go check.

Check the fuses in the Maxifuse relay center... I have seen a few of these pop in the past on different H bodies... Look at the 60 amp ones first...

I checked all the fuses under the hood I was told to check the fuseable link on the transmission.
I have not tested that yet.

I figured out that i tap the ignition switch and I get all power back then I tap again and lose power again.(not the key switch, the one on the colum under the dash). I am going to replace this switch today and se if everything comes back.

The ignition switch fixed all my problems and it is good to go now.

Glad to hear it.... This will be one to remember.. Not exactly a common failure on the H bodies..
