Watching it like a hawk won't do you any good when it goes.

You need to change it BEFORE it goes, or it might cost you your motor.

You also need to install/have installed the new Aluminum LIM gaskets, and Dex flushed.

The DEXcrap will be flushed at that time.

will the Dorman brand (part #615-180) be a suitable replacement manifold set, or should I go strictly AC Delco?

Use the APN Kit. It has a steel sleeved EGR stovepipe, which should eliminate the EGR eating into the UIM.

No, it's an aftermarket company. Um, someone should have a link, I don't. My supercharger is the UIM, so I don't have to worry about it, lol.

thanks, but her intake manifold (and rear rotors/pads) were replaced about an hour ago at my mechanic's place.

I'm just glad I was able to get that done and out of the way.

actually gonzo, there is one thing you could help me with (hope I'm not being to forward :) ), I would KILL to have revamped my headlamps to be clear cornered like yours. Is that something you could assist me with. Would it be a pain the the butt for you to do?

Which UIM did he use, and did he change the LIM gaskets? Flush the DEX? Which LIM gaskets?

W, to answer your question:

a. I had my entire system flushed out last year (including heater core) and refilled with the green antifreeze. I have since flushed it again this past November (I usually do it twice a year).
b. I used the Dorman UIM setup because, according to my mechanic, the aftermarket Dorman was just as durable as the Delco design, also it already came with all the necessary hardware, whereas with the Delco, I'd have to search for all the other materials (o-rings, gasket, etc).
c. I did not have the LIM gaskets changed as I was told the bottom half of the intake (including gaskets) was aluminum already, so there was no reason to change them.
