Just wondering what 87-91 owners with 17" rims are using re tire size. I want to get the best size that will fill the wheelwell without rubbing and still be a common size so its not too expensive.

What about 225/50/17?

Open this link up http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Put your stock size on one side, then put your new rim size on the other side. From there, you can play around with the width and aspect ratio to see what size tire you need.

225/50/17 is going to be a pretty small tire. Its even smaller than the 225/60/16 that comes stock on almost every Bonneville.

Play around with this tire size calculator: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

I would base your size off the 225/60/16's that generally come on the 92-99 Bonneville, not the 235/55/17 that come on the 00+, since the 235/55/17 are bigger.

Got the rims today. They are actually 16" x 6.5" so after looking at the tire calculator I am thinking either 225/55/16 or 215/60/16. There seems to be an issue with the strut plate being hit by a larger tire like 235 on the 87-90 Cars as theres not much clearance like on the newer ones.

What tires are 87-90 owners on here running with their 16" rims? Were'nt the 88-90 sse's rims 16" and if so what is the stock tire size?

225/60/R16 is about the most common tire size ever. All Bonneville's with 16's run that.

After having the Olds Delta 88 off the road for quite awhile I am finally putting it back on the road and need new tires n rims. The Wheels I picked up ages ago were what I thought to be Grand Am 16" but are in fact Grand Prix with an ET of 52mm which I think is too much for the 89 Delta 88.

Whats the stock offset for the 87-91? 40mm?
Whats the biggest offset that will fit? I saw some 92-99 wheels cheap that are 46mm offset but don't know if these will fit without rubbing as the 87-89 are close to the struts as it is.
