If you are thinking about a size that is a little wider then stock and still want to keep the overall diameter the same, check out http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html That is a handy little tool that I have used a few times.

I went with 245/45's so my speedo would stay pretty much the same.

Any reason why you went with a different size that the gxp comes with stock? For cornering?
I think the GXP comes with 235/50/18.

but they come equipped with 18's so the speedo is set for that size tire. where as ours is set for 17's and SE's 16's :wink:

According to the link that I posted above

245/45/18 would have a diameter of 26.7"
235/50/18 would have a diameter of 27.3"

stock size
235/55/17 would have a diameter of 27.2"

i didn't do that but i have hit a few potholes and they are not as round anymore as they should be

oh, and the wheel is discontinued

245/45/18 is what I ran on my 94 Bonnie thats why I was wondering. It just seemed like it would be too small but it does look good. Probally cheaper too but I think I am gonna 235/50/18 maybe 245/50/18.
