I'm going to have to bondo a couple of areas on my car as soon as possible. Getting the bondo is no problem; but getting the correct paint seems like a bit of an issue. The codes might match, but I think the newer paint is too bright. I had a small bottle of touch up paint that was the correct code but was too bright. Any suggestions where I can get the correct paint shade, and also primer & clear coat? Thanks.

Buying paint that will match well is absolute luck. I've had body shops spray some cards, adjusting the colour to get as close a match as possible. This way they could complete the work blending into the area around the repair without having to paint adjacent panels as well. How well this works can depend on where the repair is and how picky you are. I have no idea how you would do this easily yourself.

I use paint from www.automotivetouchup.com, been really happy with them. What is your paint code? Metallics are harder to match.

My code is WA 408G, I believe. Maple Red Metallic is the color listed on the window sticker.

find a rusty spot and peel a swatch of paint and take to high end painters to match

Not to dig up an old topic, but I ended up getting primer, paint and clearcoat from automotivetouchup.com for my project. The color of the paint is bang on with the rest of the car, to my amazement. It isn't done yet (as in polished) because the weather is not good enough at the moment. Thanks for the recommendation, Andrew!

Just to add to this , Blending the adjacent panels is always the easiest way for the paint to match. Feather in the new paint on the next panel and clear both panels. Black is the only color that doesn't need Blending.
