One thing that's bothered me ever since I picked up my LSS three weeks ago is the cloudy, yellow headlight lenses. The other day, I parked next to an Olds Eighty-Eight from the same era as mine and found myself getting jealous of its clean, shiny peepers, so I decided to do something about mine. Yesterday, I was at Walmart and picked up a Turtle Wax Headlight Restoration Kit for about $8 and this evening, once the heat of the day had passed, I decided to try it out.

I've never used any product of this type before and I amazed was completely amazed with the results. It took about an hour to do both headlights--They were so badly hazed I couldn't even see the light bulbs inside when the lights were off--but when I was through, I couldn't believe they were the same headlights. The instructions on the box were easy to follow and with a little elbow grease, they were totally transformed.

The only thing that would have made the kit a better value is if it had included more than one sealant wipe. I used only about a quarter to a third of the polishing compound and lubricating spray, and the abrasive pads were far from worn out. With a couple of extra wipes, the kit could easily be good for several cars. It would even be worthwhile if they made extra wipes available separately for a dollar or two each.

Pics?

I've had great luck with the 3M kit that chucks into a cordless drill. No sealant, but I've heard the Turtle Wax's sealant isn't that great anyways, lol.

I didn't take any 'before' pics, but I'll take some 'afters' and post them.

I saw that the 3M kit got good reviews online, but it wasn't in stock. There was a Mothers kit that had the drill attachment, but it cost almost three times as much as the Turtle Wax kit. I feel like I got my money's worth and I've got plenty of product left over--sealer notwithstanding--to do it again, if I have to. Are there sealers out there that would work better?

I definitely intend to do what I can to keep them clear and shiny.
