Aloha Everyone !!!!!!
I was interested in some ideas on rims and tires for my 1997 SE for summer use.I was considering 17 inch or 18 inch perhaps, currently I have the stock 5 spoke 16's which are nice ...but time for a change........no 20's idea's please daily driver
One that caught my eye is by American Racing "Maverick" silver finish or chrome and only 22 lbs a piece with a two year warranty .Tire Rack has a few ideas but not many ....All ideas welcome :)
Latest upgrades "This Winter "were new stuts and shocks from Strutmasters.com about $500.00 for all four completely assembled and ready to mount.Plus Shipping not to bad.I also replaced all the brake lines on the car 46 feet worth of tubing to do a whole SE. Thanks For Your Input.......Matt

What color is your car? That can make a HUGE difference in wheel selection.

Not quite sure what color that will be as I am not very familiar with all of the exact paint codes and colors, but is that a darker green or is it a very light green? Any chance you could snap a pic?

Either way, chrome is always a nice choice, have you considered a set of factory chrome wheels from the 2000+ Bonnevilles? Many members have taken these wheels and swapped them on the older models and they really do set the cars off very nicely. The Silver GXP wheels are also a sweet looking wheel.

I have always been a fan of five spokes, though lately multiple spike designs have really grown on me.

I think we may have the same color. I was playing around and some of the 5 spoke mustang rims aren't bad if you don't mind going that route. Or a nice set of black 18's on some rubber didn't look bad either. I'll have to see if I can find some pics.

I use to have Mustang rims on my car until I bent one of them up bad and just decided to sell the other 3 and go back to stock.

I always thought 20 spokes looked great on these years.

2005+ wheels are the ideal to go with, as they have the perfect width and offset for our cars. Torque the lugs properly in a star pattern (they're 5x114.3), make sure your balance is done right, and you'll be good to go. Try and find ones with the gunmetal centres instead of the light silver.

I like the Mustang rim idea they look like American Racing Tork Thrust series.I did not know Mustang sizes fit? I liked that look with the color of your car.I do like the 2005 factory wheels 18's had to find a set of 4 though.....at least locally ...Pittsburgh Pa. area .Thanks for posting my cars picture,I am not to good at posting my cars pictures on this site.
Aloha Matt

:) Aloha
I have another question will the 2005 18x8 factory 5 spoke bolt on and work on my 1997 SE Disc and drum rear brake setup? I found a set on a site in silver or chrome the prices are not to bad ,I don't know much about backspacing differences .Thanks for any help you guys can give me.
Two other ideas are one Foose Speed Chrome 18 and American Racing Maverick18 in chrome....my final choices in my mind .I did like the 5 star from the Mustang that was used to... :dontknow: Time will tell....Matt

The GXP wheels will fit. Can you link us to the wheels you found? Some of those sites do a wheel exchange, especially for the chrome GXP wheels. You pay them $2k for 4 chromed wheels, then get $800 back when you send them your original wheels as a core to be chromed, so basically all you are buying is the chroming. Read the sometimes-not-so-fine print.

Aloha ..........The site I found is called wheelsandcaps.com

Wheels And Caps
2014 South Main St.
Suite 600
Wake Forest NC.27587 1-866-654-7467
M-F 8a.m.-6p.m.
They offer a one year warranty on painted or chrome, they do not take returns on a wheel not specified to fit your year,so once you bought them thats it!!Thats why I was asking if they would fit my 1997 before I bought them..................There is no exchange idea like you mentioned in their ad. [-X
The 18" 2005 5 spoke "silver paint" #aly06572v20 cost $177.89 each.
$711.56 for all four plus tax.

The Chrome 18" 2005 5 spoke #aly06572v85 cost $299.89 each.$1,199.56 for all four plus tax.

Center Caps and lugnuts are not av.They do sell factory mirrors and headlights to various years of Pontiacs Bonnevilles and Grand Prix, and G 6's Grand Ams . :) Any more thoughts let me know Matt
