Me and my friend painted his father's SSEi brake calipers red. They turned out great. Unfortunately he wrecked the car shortly after. I should have grabbed them before they crushed the car but it was to late.

There are a lot of people on here who has. It all depends on the paint used and how nit picky the person is. I did mine when I did the brakes and taped everything off.

It is all up to the owner if it was worth it. To me, I am glad I did mine.

I'm going to eventually paint mine. I just haven't gotten around to it, lol.

On a black car either red or silver will look good, it just depends on what else you want to do. If you do red pinstriping and silver calipers they will clash. Make sure whatever you do goes with your plans for the rest of the car.

Like I said, it all depends on his other colors, etc. If he has silver accents, red will just be too much. It's all car-dependent.

I like mine, however if I had to do it all over again I would paint the paint the bracket one color and the caliper another i saw that on another forum in red and black and it was pretty bad

The car is really dirty in this picture, but if I did red calipers it would say nothing more than "Hey look at my red calipers down here".

I wanted something a little more subtle.

I took everything off and painted caliper and the caliper bracket separately. Used dupli-color ceramic rattle cans. Held up really well, needs to be done again this spring tho, due to new caliper and just need to be redone.

The red is played out, but with the silver, chrome, and the Pontiac symbol being red. I thought it would be a good compliment.

Red is the only colour IMHO.
Dupli-Colour Red caliper paint FTW. I did the Bonne's here 5 years ago and it still looks new after 30K.

Image

Even my little Pontiac sports the red.

Image

10 minute job with the brush on Dupli-Colour and it dries smooth and streak free quickly.

Joe, I'm pretty sure it's a decal.

Yes it's an aluminum decal. They haven't come off and have been on since I painted the calipers in 05.
The rears say SSEi.

Well the fact that you drive the car 4k a year and never in anything but sun has a lot to do with how long they're lasting, Paul.

On a DD, I would guess they'd last 3 years or so, if properly applied in the first place.

Not too sure about that Ed. They have seen more than normal heat. Have you ever stopped from 125 mph with a full load of passengers in less than 1/8 mi.
My Jeep calipers are painted red also and I drive that a lot more.
I'm sold on the Dupli-colour acrylic paint.
