Due to the fact that I dislike the exterior SE trim with the crappy chrome strip. I have decided to fully swap my exterior door trim for the SSE trim. I wanted to know if this is plug and play. I know the SSE trim covers the full lower half of the door compared to the SE only covering a section of the door. I already have an SSE front bumper and grille on the car and I have the rear bumper sitting in my garage waiting to get put on. I also intend on getting a true dual system on this car. I plan on running 2 Flowmaster Super 44's with dual outlets. I am mainly gettting these cause they make my car sound like a beast. Give e your thoughts for this project. Picutres of the front bumper and grille are on their way soon.

I agree with the super 44's. I have them on my 01 and I also had them on my 06 impala 3.9 V6. The Bonnie sets off over sensitive car alarms and the Impala sounded like a V8 at idle. (As close as it could anyway...)
FWIW, the bonneville has a stock exhaust except for the mufflers. The Impala was stock except for the mufflers and the resonator was removed ;)
Also, I think your swap will look good. Looking forward to pictures

The SSE cladding is held on by clips, which are in turn held in by studs that were spot-welded to the doors at the factory. Fairly certain the studs on the SEs are in different locations than on the SSE/SSEi models.

They are. Door cladding would have to be done with adhesive. And the conversion looks lame without it. In addition, the rocker panels are also different. So it's all 4 door cladding pieces, front and rear bumpers AND supports, and rocker panels.

A true dual setup (one pipe from each bank of cylinders) is not possible with how our exhaust is setup, or at least not worth it. I'd do like the stock SSEi's do it, split it towards the rear and into 2 mufflers.

True duals is very possible. I fit 3 primaries and a crossover between the exhaust tunnel and p/s rack under the car.

But, IMO it's not worth the trouble.

I agree. True dual exhaust is VERY possible, but not worth the time or money for the minimal gain it would get you.

my bad. however the SSEi has it set up is how i will do it. Still sticking with the 44's. How will the trim go on and will it cover the original cladding from my SE

my friend uses a Super 44 for his SE. I plan on doing the same just with a dual exhaust format.

That's the thing...you CAN'T. You only have one exhaust pipe entering the transverse muffler, with two exits, one on each side. You can only use 1 44, but only one outlet, which would put it on the passenger side.

And....even if you "y" pipe it, there is no room to longitudaly (spelling?) mount one muffler, let alone two (and one of those two sides will have your air pump for the rear shocks, which knocks your idea out even more).

If you want sound, you HAVE to use a transverse muffler.
