does anyone know why the rear windows don't go all the way down? i would like to fix that and make them go all the way down, just as a simple, cheap modification. my dad has a mercedes, and the back windows go down all the way, or darn near close, and i like that. not that i ever actually sit in the back seats, i was just wondering...

could i go to the junkyard and grab some front window motors and put them in the back, or something like that?

so, anyone got any ideas? thanks!

not even close to that simple.

the shape of the door prevents them from going down much further.

FYI, the LF and RR window motors are the same, also the LR and RF are the same.

I think GM started that years ago as a safety feature to keep the kids and dogs from jumping out.

that was never the case, People just assumed thats what it was, when infact it was the wheel "cutout" in the rear door that stops the window from going all the way down..

The rear windows in the 4 door Grand Prixs go all the way down. Negative on the safety feature standard.

Yes, exactly. My point was: If stopping the windows halfway was a safety feature, GM would have made the Grand Prix rear windows also stop halfway down. Since they did not make them stop halfway down, it is evident that there was no safety requirement requiring GM to do so, and thus the limiting factor is logically the clearance in the door panel itself.

Yeah, the rear wheel placement has to do with the car being so long and trying to improve the turn radius. Even though it still sucks :P

That is SO true. Here in California U-turns are legal and normal in most places, and it's often very difficult to make a U-turn if there are only two lanes on the opposite side. The Bonneville's weakness is the huge friggin' turning radius!!!

My 00 has a pretty good turning radius for it's size, although it is smaller than the 99-
