i'm trying to find out if the car i have is a rarity--have seen only one in my area. it's a 79 bonneville, 2-door, console, bucket seats, skirts---the vin # has only 13 digits--does that mean anything? how can i find out more?

The older Bonnes are kind of a rarity anymore, I haven't seen any from the 70's in a long time.

The mandatory 21 digit VIN's didn't go into place until like '82 or so, so that's nothing special.

You'll have to find a Pontiac VIN Decoder somewhere online. Unfortunately we don't offer a whole lot for the older cars, these forums mainly focus on the newer stuff, but if you need something we'll try our best to help you out.

Sounds kind of like the Olds 88 Holiday Coupe package from that era. Used the same seats and center console as the Cutlass Supreme. My seventh grade home room teacher had one. It was a really sharp car. There was an Indy pace car edition in either '77 or '78 that was tricked out with a black and silver two-tone paint job with red accent stripes and a t-top. I can only imagine that if Olds came out with something that sporty, Pontiac would match it.
