YE series engine on a 1965 Bonneville?

Hi All,

My 1965 Bonneville's engine number (located on the front of the block on the passenger side) starts with the code YE. But according to info by YearOne, the codes for the 1965 Bonnevilles did not include YE. The 1968 had engine codes were YE - among others.

Does it mean my original engine was replaced with a later make? The registration book does not have any recorded history of changes. Perhaps engines with code YE were made for 1965 Bonnevilles too?

Any advice?

My research shows that 1965 did use a YE code engine... the 325hp 389.
