Just wondering if there is a preferred lubricant to apply to the harmonic balancer when reinstalling it onto the crank so the front cover seal isn't damaged, or if clean motor oil is sufficient?

I ended up using a synthetic, general purpose grease (Super Lube, which happens to also be food grade in case I want to dine on used motor oil later). I was pretty surprised because I dropped by a well known and established store that sells parts and supplies for modding and building high performance engines. I asked if there is a "preferred" product (understanding that likely a bunch of general purpose products will be fine). The guy at the counter had no idea. He said they don't build engines so I should call a machine shop.... :banghead:
