As some have experienced the dreaded intake plenum boot crack leading to the P0174 P0171 codes I noticed the size of the gasket.
It measured 71mm across in one direction and 72mm in another.

This made me realize we are not getting the full benefit (all be it minor) of our stock 75mm TB.

Does anyone know if an improved design available?

I did not. I know Mattstrike did a bunch of intake work on his '05 STS, but I don't think he modified anything. Just fixing/cleaning up old crud parts

I think if you want to make any mods like this, you're left to your own devices.

The STS has a boot that fits a coupler on both sides, the FWD cars I believe have a coupler on one end and a flange on the other.

I was able to change mine out for a silicone coupler to remove a little bit of restriction from the accordian shape in the boot; but I mainly did that because the old one was cracked.
