Well... This is interesting... No leaks from under the engine, however the radiator is leaking... Now I'm really wondering about the sellers mechanics diagnosis! Perhaps the head gaskets are ok after all! I'm going to order a new rad and then pressure test it again once it is installed.

Pressure test isn't very accurate with these engines, best way to know is take it out and floor it a couple times, really give it a workout. Compression gasses blow by the gasket but usually coolant doesn't leak the other way. If the gaskets are bad it will overheat and not recover, if they are good it may get warm but cool right back down.

I will give it a good run after the new rad is installed. It took me almost 3 hours to remove the old one... Just tons of room to work in there! NOT!... LOL!

Need some help here guys:

I have the rad installed. At the same time, I changed the water pump along with the belt and tensioner pulley. I flushed the engine and put in new 50/50 antifreeze.

For some reason, I have no heat inside the car, and yet my radiator fans are running like it is overheating. The computer is telling me it is overheating too, and yet when I take an actual temp reading with my laser temp gauge, it reads 200-210. This is after letting it warm up in the driveway, and then I took it on a 10 min drive at 40 MPH in 10F temperatures. Yes, it's freezing here in the "great white north"". :)

Thanks for your help! I'm kind of stumped...

A bit more info:

I decided to check the computer for codes. I found an overheat code and then erased it. I also topped up the coolant, and now I have heat inside the car. :) I took it for a short drive again and everything seems normal. There are no coolant leaks anywhere now, and the engine is running well.

I am keeping an eye on the coolant level. I strongly suspect the original coolant loss, was due to a slow leak in the rad, and not a head gasket issue. :)

I still have to fix the temp and gas gauges, and have ordered a full set of stepper motors off of ebay.

Indeed it does! :) I am in Halton Hills about 45 min NW of Toronto. If all this snow and cold weather would just let up, I could take this thing for a real test ride! LOL!

Get it out on the highway and beat on it a little, do a few spirited runs and watch the temp gauge.

Told you it was something simple...

Well, simpler than dropping the engine/subframe and removing the top-end of the engine, re-decking block and heads (if necessary), restudding the block, and reassembling in order to address a leaking head gasket!

If this is the case, it is a huge relief! While I was prepared to do all of that work, it was not something I was looking forward too!

Won't really know for sure until I put a few miles on it, while keeping an eye on the coolant level. I want to fix both the temp and gas gauge before that happens. The new stepper motors should be here by the end of this coming week.

One thing to keep in mind, the water pump is one of the highest points in the coolant system, when the engine runs the compression lifts the heads slightly allowing gasses to enter the cooling system. Those gasses get caught up in the water pump air locking it which is why it will overheat and not recover.

Took it for a good run today. All was fine for about 20 min, and when I stepped on it a bit coming up a long hill, the temp gauge started to rise... I had to pull over for about 10 min to let it cool down. I then took it easy the rest of the way home. Guess she needs the stud kit and new gaskets. Oh well... Its only money!... :-#

sorry to hear that. Any change in the coolant level? Did you look at the oil again?

The oil is fine however, the cooling system remains pressurized the next day, after everything has cooled right down. Exhaust gases are entering the cooling system, because of the leaking head gaskets. The new stud kit is on its way.

That sucks, but you'll still have a great car when it's all said and done.
