I went to get the car washed the other day,and it was performing as usual great ! but when i got in the line for the car wash i needed to back up.So as i put the car in reverse and moved back it was fine ,but then when i put it back in drive it went backwards again,so i looked down to make sure it was in the right gear and it was in the (d) postion. So to make a long story short i tried every other gear and the car only moved in reverse ? then i shut it down and it would not start back up ? is this because iits stuck in the reverse gear or something else. :dontknow: PLEASE HELP I NEED MY GXP.

Could be the cable as mentioned above (either off the trans or out of adjustments), could also be a bad shifter assembly sending the wrong (or no), signal to the BCM. Not sure how fancy ours was as I never faced that problem, but some GM's have very tempermental prox switches in the shifter assembly that when they go south, can generate issues or DTC's and error messages (Shift to Park is a common one).


I piggybacked off of Andrews response where he posted that the cable could've come off the trans.

Thanks guys the info you gave me was the exact problem the little plastic clip that holds the shift cable was broken and the neutral safety switch keep the car from starting.reattached the cable with a new piece and she fired right up a million THANKS to you guys knowledge is power glad to be apart the club THANKS AGAIN AND AGAIN ! GXP ON THE ROAD.
