I've had this GXP for a couple months now and sometimes when I turn off the car the radio will keep playing even with the key out and the door open. I've had cars that will keep the radio on with the key out but only if the doors are closed and then once the door opens the everything will shut down. Is this something anyone else has seen? It's not too big a deal and not real bothersome although I was embarrassed the other day when I tried to get out of my car at work since my boss and another co-worker were in the parking lot and music was playing loudly coming from my car like I was showing off. I'm usually careful to turn it down once I get somewhere out of respect for other people but sometimes I just forget and that time I did. OOPS! It's really not that bothersome, I realize there are worse things that could be happening but if anyone knows why this is happening and if I shold be concerned about it, I would appreciate it. :dontknow:

(BTW, I've always wanted a GXP and I absolutly love everything about this car so far. Love the way it looks and drives. Also can't get enough of that N* sound, love love love it! It's been a few months and the novelty still hasn't worn off. I don't think it's going to either! Can't wait to start personalizing and making improvements/modifications.) :)

My car does that occasionally, I think it's something with the connection that the door makes to tell the car it's open or not. Do you have the stock stereo? How do you normally get it to turn off?

Yes everything is still stock. I've just been shutting the radio off manually. The first time I thought it might kill my battery but it didn't. I assumed it just shut off automatically after a while like it does when the key is in, car is off and doors stay closed.

I think it'll turn off regardless after 10 minutes with the keys off like the interior lights do if you leave a door open.

I had this exact issue. It is the "door actuator switch".
It was intermittent also.
Sometimes I would have to re-shut the door to get the radio off.
Part was $240 but luckily i still had my extended warranty

Whoa $240??? That seems a bit much for something that hasn't been bothering me all that much yet. I may just live with it for a while... Thanks for the info guys! I'll check with harofreak if it gets worse. Or I wonder if in this case, would a stitch in time save nine?

$20 for the part you need.

Oh! Well that sounds much better. How hard is it to replace and where does it even go? Sorry, I'm not a mechanic but I try to dabble. My famous last words are usually, "oh yeah, that seems easy enough, I can do it!" LOL

Fairly involved fix actually. You'll need to remove the door panel, the water shield and maybe even the window glass and glass track.

Ok well that sounds like I'll have to get some help for all that, or pay someone to do it for me. I'll be in touch for the part. Thanks!

Can someone post the part number of this "door actuator switch"?
I have the same problem with my radio not shutting off and can't find this door actuator switch online.

if you open the passenger door, does it still stay on? that may narrow it to the drivers latch.

The switch is part of the door latch assembly and isn't available separately. Therefore, to get a part number, you need to specify which door it's for.
