Well my car started randomly missing really bad yesterday when the car was cold. It came out of it after I turned it off then back on. I didn't think much of it until today when I was going to leave home for school and it was missing so bad it wouldn't stay running. The service engine soon light was blinking during this.

I'm driving 75 miles home tomorrow after school to take a look at it. I suspect it's a wire going to the coils since I was working in that general location earlier in the week. I also ordered a new set of coils just in case.

I guess my question is, the code P0300 can only come from bad coils? Or could it be fuel related? And is there any way to check the coils with a digital multi meter to see if they are bad?

Thanks everyone,

You probably have a bad coil, Seth. I had the same issue very early on in my cars life and IIRC there were other members on here that experienced the same problems. My issue surfaced when the engine was under load and not yet up to temp.

I'm sure there is a way to check them I just can't say for sure.

Good luck!

Norm

Thanks Carl,
I pulled another code P1106, I think this one is caused by the massive vacuum leak I found.

When I went to start it Monday it backfired and I think that's what blew apart the rubber elbow on the passenger side of the intake manifold causing my vacuum leak.

This looks like it will be fun to replace and find a new elbow, the power steering pump is in my way.

I am going to go get my dads scanner and see if I can pin point the misfiring cylinder(s) I am still getting the P0300 with no corresponding P030X code and my SES light is still flashing.

Fixed! Used an AC Delco coil pack and a vacuum elbow for a Chrysler 3.8 PCV valve. Runs great thanks!
