I am leaking coolant in the general location of the water pump. I was wondering if it was possible to change the water pump without removing the water pump housing from the car?

Thanks guys!

The short answer is yes. It's no small job to replace a water pump on these N*'s but it's not that hard either. There are several video tutorials on youtube to help you through. You will also need a special water pump pulley removal tool as well.

Thanks! The reason I was confused was I watched a video for a 2006 replacement.

I saw the same video and thought to myself, WTF? I know the wp removal was a task but that was crazy.

The 2004 is different, but I'm worried my leak may be coming from the gasket between the block and the water pump housing. Big job...

If the leak is between the housing and the block than it makes it a much bigger job. Still, it's not something that couldn't be done in an afternoon.
