That's what I wanted to figure out. I am scrapping this engine, so I disassembled everything down to the bare aluminum.

Block = 64lbs
Image

Spacer = 2bs
Image

Crank cap = 21lbs
Image

Oil pan = 10lbs
Image

Head #1 = 35lbs
Image

Head #2 = 35lbs
Image

Coolant/waterpump housing = 10lbs
Image

Pistons = 7lbs
Image

Oil filter adapter = 1lb
Image

Thermostat housing = 1lb
Image

I didn't include the throttle body or any of the brackets because I'm not scrapping them. It totals up to be just short of 200lbs. Not bad!

I haven't checked recently, but I think last time was around $.70/pound

I have a chunk of aluminum laying around too.... Need to take it in and get rid of it... Heads, Trans case, Pistons, intakes( nissan ) on and on....

Funny the 2 heads weigh more than the block...

The Northstar V8 would make a great coffee table. Hmm.

Your scale has a muffin top with the block on it.

Reminds me of Top Gear. I would totally rock an engine block for a table.

I've been wanting to do that with the LB9 from my T/A. Maybe I will... But bringing that to the second story would make people hate me...

I'm actually planning on doing this at some point in my life. Ideally a Northstar or LSx, wouldn't want the weight of an iron block :-#

:stupid:

Or if I found some super rare block that was junk. A piece of glass cut to fit is cheap enough, and they can make the holes in it for you. Just gotta clean all the grease off the block first. :wink:
