I notice that my a/c has begun to cycle between on and off. I have the automatic heating and cooling. Hitting the a/c button does not override the a/c being in the Off position. I started noticing that it's now more in the OFF position than the ON position.

Is there a leak of refrigerant and the compressor just keeps shouting off?

Anybody have any ideas?

The AC system has a low pressure cutout switch which keeps the AC compressor from running with a low refrigerant charge. This prevents the compressor from being trashed if the refrigerant is low. You really need a set of AC gauges to determine if the R134a charge is low. If it is low you need to find the source of the leak and fix it before adding refrigerant. Unless you have the proper tools this is pretty much a job for a pro. They have the tools to find a leak, repair it and recharge the AC system to the proper charge of refrigerant.

Good luck!
