Hi guys,

I installed a Pioneer MVH-S301BT stereo in my 2002 Pontiac Bonneville sle and am having trouble with the steering wheel adapter I bought with it. It's a Metra ASWC-1 that the pink wire is installed in pins A1 and A2 of the wiring harness also from Metra(GMOS-5). The ASWC-1 just blinks red and green the entire time and does not stop. The Steering wheel controls are not working. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nathan

Welcome to the forum.

You need to tap into the light blue wire under the steering column. You'll see it coming out of the pin out under there. That is what I had to do.

Just to be clear, you'll have to remove the hush panels under there. The leather one just pulls off. Pull it towards yourself while you wiggle gently so you don't break any of its clips and mounting points.

Thanks for the feedback. I found the light blue wire and spliced into it and unfortunately it had no effect.

the steering wheel control measures the different resistances when you press each button. You have to cut the wires for the control buttons (blue and purple) at the steering wheel column and connect the adapter wires to the wires running up into the steering column in order for it to work. If you just tap in to these wires it will not work.
