I'm going to or thinking of replacing the radio in my wife's car. We both use the Motorola Bluetooth Roadster speakers for hands free but, they are not consistent for either of us, sometimes work and sometimes not. I'm not looking to spend lots of money on a radio but it needs the hands free Bluetooth set up, so any ideas on which brand under 200.00 and does the radio mute when phone calls come in?

I don't know if this would work on a Bonneville (can't see why it wouldn't), but I have looked into factory Bluetooth for my Grand Prix. You would have to find an onstar module with Bluetooth that is compatible. (No need to subscribe to onstar).

As far as a radio check out Crutchfield. Lots of good stuff there, you can search for one with the features you want.

I have the Pioneer AVH-2500BT in my truck. It has seemless bluetooth and the call quality is great, almost better than using just the phone. My phone never leaves my pocket when I'm driving. I can dial numbers and view my contact list right on the head unit screen. The radio mutes when a call comes in, and turns right back on after the call. It might be overkill for what you want, but I think any head unit that has bluetooth is going to be what you need.

You can't out in factory bluetooth. The data bus for the GM OnStar/Bluetooth VCIM box that was used in 2009 and up in the trunk is not compatible with a 2003 Bonneville. But since your OnStar does not and never will work (as it is analog and OnStar stopped supporting analog in 2008, you van replace the box with a CoStar unit and that will give you Bluetooth without changing the radio .... and it will mute the radio.

need to repalace the radio with a aftermakert that supports BT. should be around a couple hundred bucks depending on what radio you buy.

Need:
* Dash Kit
* Harness (Metra)
* Steering wheel interface (if you want them to keep working)
* Headunit

I got a Pioneer DEHX9600BHS Single DIN CD Receiver ($173 at Amazon). The display color can be set to match your factory dash light colors, and it has Front, Rear, and Subwoofer line outputs. It has full-feautured Bluetooth with a wired microphone. (Mine is wired down the inside of the A-pillar trim and clips to my sun-visor.) The radio pauses and mutes during calls and the call ringtone and caller's voice all come through the stereo. It's pretty flawless.
My only complaint is that when the stereo is on, the clock digits are small for my aging eyesight.
