I replaced my head unit today with a "black button" version of what I already have. I'm not sure the technical nuances between either unit, or even how to tell if the one I already had was Bose, but I simply replaced the stock unit with the new one. I turned the car on and heard audio for a few seconds. I understand Theftlock will kick in, which it did, but what I want to understand is if I will need to make any changes to the car once I bring it to a dealer and have them reprogram the head unit for my car (to disable Theftlock)? I just want to make sure this unit will work in my car. I heard the audio, but I don't want to break anything.

As a side note, I'm reading up that it might be Theftlocked but it looks like I can possibly bypass this. However all these instructions reference reading codes on the display. My display doesn't come on though, it stays dark. Is this part of Theftlock?

I am not 100% sure it will work once you get it unlocked because the volume control for the amp is built into the radio and they may nor work exactly the same in a Bose and Monsoon. But there is only one way to find out....

Hate to say this, but upgrading to the newer style head unit isn't worth your time.
