I have the amplified system and im trying to do the same thing. I just bought a HU and door chimes, wheel control. After doing everything the thing doesn't play sound. Im sending it all back and id like to know everything I need to buy to do this right. I have a Bose stock system right now and want to keep the stock amp and speakers. What can i buy that is the easiest to install? would love touch screen, reverse cam, bluetooth, usb and aux. I don't have subs or anything like that. If you can include any links that would help.

OK first off, what did you buy? It might still work but just be hooked up incorrectly

Where did you buy it from. Crutchfield will send you everything you need and sometimes they even give detailed instructions

I bought it from crutchfield and after all the tech support and four different people talking to me the last one said it wouldn't work, or wouldn't work with my stock amp... I bought ...Pioneer MVH-X560BT Digital Media Receiver and Axxess ASWC-1 Steering Wheel Control Interface and GM GMRC-04 Interface 00-05 GM Dok & Lok w/o OnStar, w/o Amp! Right from the site. All I did is tell the guy what I wanted in the end and that's what he recommended.

But you said you have the amplified system so you have the wrong adaptor harness. You need a Metra GMOS-09 adaptor unit. No matter what head unit you buy. Then there are 2 blue/wht wires that is says to cut one for 2000-2001 and the other for 2002-2005 but they are labelled backwards so cut the one that says cut for 2002-2005. And connect the speaker wires on the adaptor the to the speaker outputs, not the line outputs. Now toy get to keep your chimes. Your OnStar will not work anyway because is is analog and they stopped supporting that in 2008.

If you buy a touch screen unit then you get all sorts of goodies like steering wheel controls, back up camera input, Bluetooth streaming from your smart phone, and a built-in DVD player, GPS and a USB port to play music off a flash drive.. But only some brands support the SWC so make sure you get one that does work with the Bonneville There is a PAC SWIX SWC interface. look here http://www.pac-audio.com/swi/ that works with the most popular brands.

I'm not a big fan of motorized units. I like one that fits behind the dash trim, even though the screen will be 6 or 6.5 inches instead of 7. Sonix or Crutchfield have several that you can buy depending in every price range. The HU Bluetooth comes with an external microphone that you have to mount somewhere and most do not work that well. You can use your OnStar controls with a Bluestar Module to have an excellent Bluetooth.

You will need a Metra adaptor to mount the HU to the dash - Metra GM Multi-Kit 95-2001 Double-DIN adaptor for 00-05 Bonnevilles and a VW male to Motorola male adaptor for the antenna.

Disregard what they say. That is the correct one for your car.

Well I hooked it all up and I'm still having the same problem. No sound at all! Everything works fine when the factory radio is in.

Which wire did you cut on the GMOS-09? You should cut the blue/white one that is next to the 2 pink ones (3rd from the end). Is the aftermarket HU powering on? The blue/white wire coming our the other end of the black box connects to the remote amp turn on wire from the radio. That will power up the amplifier.

I got it... It turns out the had them labeled correctly. I put back together the wire that I had cut fot 02-05. Then cut the wire for 00-01 and it's working. The only thing I don't like is you have to turn the radio almost all the way up to get decent volume. Why is this and can I change it?

Did you connect it to the line outs (RCA plugs) or the speaker outs on the back of the HU. You should connect it to the speaker outputs. There is also a procedure with the GMOS-09 where after you adjust the chime volume, you can also increase the gain on the inputs using the same adjustment screw. See the instructions that came with the GMOS-09

If the GMOS-09 does not allow you to make the volume high enough with the line outs, connect them to the speaker outs. The GMOS-09 is designed for speaker outs, not line outs.

You're welcome, enjoy it and how about posting a picture of the HU?
