Hi all, I have a 93 ssei, I want to replace both speakers in the driver and passenger door, and then how ever many speakers are behind the back seats, I herd alpine had good speakers (correct me if I'm wrong) and I went on their site and there were so many different categories and specs, I don't have a single clue what I'm looking for, at the moment I have an alpine ivad300 tv, 2000 watt alpine amp and 2 12" kicker subwoofers, now I'm looking to spend 200 on both doors and 200 on the rear speakers and I'm looking for speakers with a nice balance between clarity and bass, any help would be great, I don't have a clue what I'm even looking at, thanks

You will want to double check these figures, because I may be wrong, but this is what I think is floating around in the car:

Front doors: 5.25" Round and 2" tweeter (i think a fair amount keep this tweeter)
Back deck: 6"x9", with 2" tweeter on each side
I think there is a hole for 4"x6" on the dash, but I don't know if these are used with the fancy stereo.

You have the room to run components, I recommend planning accordingly.

Definitely run components in the front doors. They are 5.25 in size.

For the rear you have 6X9's. If you get 3-ways or similar you won't have to worry about the tweeter.

From my own personal experience, I really like Pioneer. They seem to produce indestructible speakers but sound great at the same time. In my front doors I have these:

Except mine are 6.5 cause I am a 2000+. They are amazing. I've had them in for about a week and I'm blown away by the quality of the sound. Vocals shimmer and music just comes to life with detail.

In the rear deck I have these:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_639 ... 6995R.html

They are also great. Before I had a sub, these did a great job handling heavy bass and never really distorted. They handle all ranges of frequencies remarkably well. Currently, I have them running very quietly in the back deck so that rear passengers don't feel left out and I'm super satisfied with their performance. Especially for the price.

Hope this helps!

Also what's the difference between 2 way and 3 way? Also what the heck are ohms? Does it make a difference? Also some day coaxial and some say component, no idea what that means. And what does frequency response mean? Sorry if I'm being to anal, I've got no speaker knowledge and since I don't plan on doing any competition stuff idk if any of the ohms or frequency response makes any difference, I'm just looking for above average pretty decent brand, and since I like my car to bump I want good bass with good clarity that won't distort, also since I've got all stock speakers in the car and I don't have a clue what they are, I want the replacements to be much much better

2 way speakers have two speakers inside of one. Coaxial is the same as 2 way. 3 way speakers have 3 speakers inside of one. A 3 way 6X9 will handle bass, mids, and treble etc. However this doesn't always mean more is better. Components are the best because they separate the speakers so that each can focus on a frequency set so to speak. As far as ohms, you'll want 4 ohms all around. It basically means how hard the amp or radio has to work to produce sound out of the speaker. If you want no distortion you'll need ample power and good speakers that are matched to the RMS output of your amp. If you want loud and clear, you'll need an amp for the door and deck speakers along with the amp for your subs.

Tweeters are pretty directional. That's why they are located in the upper front door and aimed towards the driver. Putting them in the rear shelf won't have much of an effect so I would say go with good 2 ways. The selection of 6 x 9 is not very extensive. Use the reviews on Crutchfield or Sonic to choose a good set and match them to the output of your amplifier. If your Alpine head unit is only putting out 15 or 20 watts per channel, then I agree you need a 4 channel amp for the door and back shelf speakers. If it puts out 50 watts per channel, you can find good speakers without adding an amp and can save the work or re-doing all the wiring. For the fronts, I agree that a 2 component set-up with a separate tweeter and mid-range will work well. For the amplified speakers, you will have to run all the line outputs from the HU to the amp and then run everything back to the front doors and rear shelf from the amp. Use shielded speaker cable since it runs in the channel with all the powered cables in the factory wire harness.

Ok I'm getting a good idea for what I'm supposed to be looking for, and thanks again guys for the specs of what will fit, now do I have to worry about the speaker depth? Also I just looked it up, it says rms power output is 18 watts, then under that it says peak output 50 watts, so does that cover not having to get another amp?

Just my opinion, you already have blasting subs and they are going to far overmatch the speakers you can get for a 18 watt per channel radio. I would recommend for the price you are looking to spend, getting a component system for the front for about $150 that can handle 5-75 or 90 watts, get a 2 way speaker set for the rear for about the same price that can handle about the same, then a 4 channel amp that is 40-60 watts per channel to power them for about $150-200.

There are many great 4 channel amps around for cheap.
I had this thing in my car for about 8 months and it never skipped a beat. Worked flawlessly and sounded pretty awesome. It's going into my friend's BMW in a couple days.
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_220 ... 400.4.html
But that's if you're looking for SUPER cheap.

However, if at the time that I was buying that one this one was available I would have gone for this one here.
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures ... id=1423900
It has a good amount of RMS power, but it also has filters which would be crucial for your front doors to get the best sound.

Personally though, if I had a separate amp for my subs and another for the speakers, I'd be running this.
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_334 ... 2404S.html
This is basically what I have in the car right now minus a 5th channel and by God it is an amazing amp. It produces such clean and sweet power and it's relentless. Plus the build quality is just on another level for Kenwood amps. It may only be 40 RMS but I guarantee you with thr right speakers it is enough.

If I were you I wouldn't even bother with the rears, just run the fronts on an amp and don't even have rear 6X9s. Take the money from 6X9s and put it towards a better speaker amp or better front speakers.
