Hey everyone! I have a kenwood Excelon x995 and had it installed by BestBuy. I purchased the unit off of Sonic Electronix and BB used the wiring harness that came with it.

My question is for those of you who have installed your own head units in 2000+ models.

Did you need to run an extra power, ground and acc or was it included in the harness and you just went wire for wire between the harness and the deck?

The reason I ask is that BB said they needed to run a new ground, power and acc and that just doesn't make sense...

Fwiw, I have an 04 gxp with monsoon.

John

The 00+ Bonnevilles use a data bus system for their radio wiring rather than traditional wiring. So, Best Buy can run the new leads to the radio and you will lose your chime (doors open, seat belt, etc) or they can install an adapter such as PAC C2R-GM32R to make for an easier plug-n-play install while retaining door chimes. The latter is rather expensive, adding $60-80 to your install cost. I opted to run new leads and eliminate the chime- 2 birds, 1 stone.

Nice radio by the way. I have been using an x895 for a few years now and it works great.

I used the metra harness on my 00 SSEI and did not run any new wires. the ribon cable has everything you need in it. i dont know why they would tell you that you had to run extra wires... Lol the stock deck has power, ground and ACC power... got my harness from Amazon for like $45, worth it for me vs the headache of running any wires.
