... had to use the interface to keep the chimes and whatnot. Everything I read made this sound like it would be this horrible daunting instal, it wasn't bad at all! Once I sat down and studied all of the wires and figured out what everything was for, it was a piece of cake. Just wired it up like I would any other deck... granted mine isn't Bose or OnStar, this was a pretty straight forward instal, but I do have a couple questions. 1) I read that my date may not work on my DIC, and it doesn't, is there anything I can do to make it work? 2) does anyone know the best way to run a subwoofer power wire through the firewall on an 07 GP?

Went to drill the hole in the firewall this morning for the sub power cord, drilled right through a wiring harness. Took out two wires and grazed the insulation on about 3 more. Scrubbed up for surgery :/

Wiring looks a little messy, but for the most part it's pretty organized lol

I had iPod control on my old Pioneer deck. Never used it, so when I installed this one I gave the cable away. Gave away the $60 cable lol. This deck has the same hookups in the back, but I'm going to use it for an XM interface. That goes in tomorrow ;)

What are you going to need to do for the data to work within the DIC again? My g/f 05 GP came with the 3 button DIC, and was actually planning on putting in a 5 button which I picked up a few weeks ago. She also received a deck over X-mas and will be installing it into the car soon as well. The set up you have will basically be the same thing she has....was just wondering if she will run into "no data" issues like you did.

Thanks!

I have that same deck, and I picked it because it lights up red. It looks like it belongs there.

With the GP, the DIC receives the clock signal from the factory stereo. The DIC has no way of keeping time unless it receives a clocking signal. Now, I can't tell you if the clock signal is a hard signal from the stereo, or if it's actually transmitted via CANBUS. A nice wiring diagram for the DIC and stereo would tell us what we need to know.

Literally the only data I lost was the date. Everything else seems to be 100%. Date wasn't a big deal to me in the first place...
