Hey cats... here's my plight.

Car: 2002 SE. (no premium audio)
HU: Sony CDX-GT630UI.
Harness: Scosche GM07B ("the cheap one")

Problem:
I got everything wired up color-to-color.
The deck is getting power. I know this because Compact Discs will eat/eject in the HU.
BUT... No sound. No lights on the face. No little light on the eject button behind the face. Nothing.

Now, this post would've been *really* helpful if the jpg's weren't dead links. Reading the text did help to a certain extent, but... was this saying I should connect the red wires WITH the orange wires in the harness? I just wired red-to-red, orange-to-orange... but the wording here is a little ambiguous and I think it could be saying either-or.

Any ideas?

Well, I harvested the HU from my old car about a year ago. It was only about 6 months old when my transmission dropped and I got the 02 Bonneville. It sat in a box on a shelf inside my house since then. It definitely worked the last time I hooked it up.

It had occurred to me that something might be wrong with the HU, but I'm putting my money on "no".

I was just about to post the same problem, the only difference is mine is the monsoon sound system and alpine is the replacement. I hooked everything up and nothing happens and I know the HU works. So I unhooked it and tested it on a battery just to be sure and it worked as I thought it would. I used a test light to find a power-on wire on the factory harness. I pluged the harness back in but this time I jumped the red from the HU to the power-on wire i found and it came on but the next problem I ran into was no sound output. By that time I was so tired of messing with it that I just stoped. that was about 3 weeks ago and I havent messed with it since then. You could give it a try and might not have the issue with the sound being that you're not dealing with the premium sound system.

Is the theft loc active on the factory HU? Mine was already on when I bought the car about 4 months ago and I never asked for a code or even mention anything about it cause I didnt know anything about at that time. I have a feeling thats what the problem will end up being though. what ever info you find out let me know and I'll do the same if I learn anything new. thanks

I've read a handful of posts on here that suggest the "no sound" problem on Monsoon systems = the power amp needing an auxiliary power switch/supply. I'm being lazy now but I'm sure you'll find them.

No, the theft lock is not on with the original factory HU. I put it right back in once I hit the wall on my new HU and it worked right away... still remembered the last station I was on, even.

UPDATE: I looked up some instructions on how to test a car stereo off of a 12v computer supply.

My HU is fine.

I ran the red, yellow and orange directly to the yellow on the 12v supply and everything fired up fine. Lights, CDs and everything. Now, why doesn't it work in my Bonneville?
