Which would be better to use? I have an XM radio cassette adapter or should I purchase the wired FM modulator?

I tried a cassette adaptor, and was less then pleased with the sound quality. So I was also thinking an FM Modulator. Then a friend said he uses a cassette adaptor and it sounded great, so he let me try it in my car. It did sound good. So my problem was a cheap adaptor. Went and picked up a Phillips for $10 and it works great. (Same brand as what he let me try)

i've been using cassette adapters for a long time. found one from an old portable cd player kit and tried it out. lost that one somehow and then found one to a xm radio. i've always like them. just for the fact that almost any old car can use them considering most older cars have cassette players. unfortunately my wifes yukon only has a cd player so i'm considering the fm modulator. hope it is worth the money.

Go with the wired FM modulator--not the wireless transmitter. You won't be disappointed.

Steve, get a new HU. Nothing else compares.

:withstupid:

The 2000÷ install is a bit of a pain but is well worth it, the stock decks eq does a horrid job. Even if you only change the deck to one with a good eq its night and day difference

This. $200 will get you A LOT.

However wired FM is the best way to adapt an input into a unit that doesn't accept anything else. Transmitted is terrible, and cassette's are finicky at best, and don't have the same specs as FM can.

Well, I gave it lots if thought and I'm just going to go down the line: if the radio I'm getting doesn't hsve a working tape deck, ill get the wired fm modulator. I really don't want to take away from the red lighting at night. Even the climate control display is red.

Its your choice but there are red lit cd players, I have the older pioneer deh p580mp. There is a newer model from last year called the deh p3200ub that has switchable green or red backlighting and aux and usb built in already.
Here's the newer model

And here is mine

Steve, you can get almost ANY brand of aftermarket HU with red or selectable red lighting. And the sound quality will be VASTLY better.

Steering wheel controls are another issue though. The stock appearance and those controls are what's holding me back.

I hear a couple hold-outs for stock 'looks' in here that are missing out on quality audio. Bummer.

I can guarantee that you won't regret the switch. Even with stock speakers.

For now I replaced my factory radio with another factory radio for the time being. Not only that it wad a cheaper decision, I didnt this would work as a Bluetooth option as well. I wanted the tape deck because I had an adapter already. When I plugged my cell up to listen to Pandora and had a phone call, I was surprised knowing people could hear me as o heard them through my speakers. This is great!

You could get a deck w/ true Bluetooth and a microphone....

What you have isn't Bluetooth, it's just an alternate speaker playing your conversation, with your phone thinking you have headphones in.

If the Bose amp is still connected once you install an aftermarket radio, I may consider changing it. Til then, stock is doing me justice
