Check your fuses. There should be one for the radio and another for the battery supply.

And double check the wiring on the adapter harness. If you blew a fuse (sounds like it), you want to try to find out why so you don't do it again.

Use a voltmeter or testlight to ensure the power terminals do indeed have power. I'm guessing there will at least be one that is powered with the ignition off, one powered only with the ignition on, and probably one powered with lights. Use your ohmmeter to ensure the grounds are intact. You may need a FSM to verify the wiring.

checked all of the wires, grounds and power, including constant and ignition.. the radio is GETTING power, but no sound. i was told that the bonnevilles have a theft system that will disable the radio if its removed or something?

sorry I didn't see this post earlier.assuming this is an ssei you need to take your remote turn on wire from the new head unit and splice it into the pink?(not sure if you have bose or monsoon it's pink on the bose system) wire coming out of the stock amp which is located behind the back seat on the drivers side you access it from the trunk. after that everything will be perfect

Check his earlier post. He tried putting in his old radio and even that didn't work. However, he may be right that the theftlock has locked him out of his original radio, and his new Pioneer doesn't work for the reason you suggested. That would mean both are not working for different reasons.

When you put the original HU in, does it say "LOCKED"? If not, theftlock isn't activated. Theftlock is in the stock HU afaik.

i'd take time to quote everyone and explain in detail but im in a rush

how do i tell if the stock amp is getting power? would that matter?

its a pioneer system, so no pink wire

when the original hu is in, i dont think it says locked (havent really looked for anything) but it wont turn on. it gets power since the cassette insert lights up, but wont turn on

no the pink wire is on the stock amp, I meant the blue/white wire coming off the pioneer deck. you have to run a remote wire to the stock amp so it will know to turn on

Before you go any further let's clear up some things. What trim is your cars se sle or ssei? And what brand is the wiring harness you have?

i couldn't say it off the top of my head, the car is a friend of mines.. afaik there are no trim badges.. as far as the wiring harness goes, do you mean from the stock radio plug to aftermarket?

only things I could think of that could narrow down the trim more, is that it has climate control for both the driver and passenger.. pl/pw.. trunk release in the glovebox.. wish i could help more

well we need to know which stereo it has. I cannot remember but I think that 2002 sle and ssel has monsoon not bose. I'm not as familiar with monsoon and there are some things different about them. could you take a picture of the front bumper and post it. and tell me if it has speakers in the back doors or not

Only SSEi's have amplified speakers AFAIK, and I believe 02's have Monsoon. If it's an SLE, it should be the same as an SE, with 6 speakers.

You should really find out what it is. There's some easy tells that can narrow it down. You say in your trim level just "2002 Bonneville". -Have your friend look at the back of the car, look at the front of the car, and look under the hood.
-Does it have one tailpipe, or two?
-Are the lights in the bumper near the outside corners of the bumper, or closer to the center of the car?
-Does it have a supercharger under the hood, or no?

That would really help us narrow down the trim level, and then you could update the trim level in your sig.

That's an SE. Not supercharged, and no amp.
