So I am trying to figure out if my car is loosing coolant or not. The top radiator tank looks low but I don't find any puddles from any leaks when the car is parked. How do I tell if the coolant is being burned off?

just make a mark on the tank with sharpie, or add it until it is at one of the lines. If you see no puddles and no leaks under the hood, and it goes down, you're definitely burning it.

Not always. Last year I had a mysterious coolant disappearance problem. I lost coolant at a pretty high rate, and could smell it coming into the car - but I couldn't see it ANYWHERE. People told me it was probably the LIM/UIM leaking and it was burning coolant. Turns out, I had a small leak from the waterpump gasket which was dripping onto the belts and drying up before it hit the ground. Replaced the waterpump and gasket for very cheap, and the problem was solved.

I suggest getting a small extendable mirror (AutoZone has them) and a flashlight and poke around your engine for small leaks.

I should mention the car has 47000 miles. I would do a pressure test but I need an adapter because the car has a screw on radiator cap.
