no more SES light so far, but it's only been overnight.

I can't believe how much fun my car is to drive again!!

The new TPS must really make a difference!

I think my TPS I got was bad too. Occasionally, my car won't downshift and get stuck in gear. Of course this always would happen when my SES light was already on for my egr valve, so I never knew when it actually threw the code. But, I did get the same code. My moms olds intrigue also has a 3.8 so I might swap this sensor around as well.

It seems odd that both yard parts I got, were bad.

I don't know...

From Rockauto...

TPS: $42 - $61

EGR Valve: $152 - $187

Enough that I don't want to pay as a college student :sad5:

This may be related to your P0401 post.

Many codes can trigger other tables or parameters to be used in shifting etc. There is a good chance that if the diagnostic aids are consulted in the FSM for your P0401 code that are making it shift funky.

Throttle Position Sensor. Located on the throttle body and faces forward on the car. It is the lower of the two sensors on the front of the TB. The top is the Idle Air Control valve or IAC.

So, to update my post.

The TPS was a fluke code, and my map sensor was the sensor triggering the EGR code of: P0401.

The Map sensor senses the change in pressure when the EGR is open, and it wasn't sensing anything well.

NO SES!!
