Year and Trim: 2000 max trim
My brother has a 2000 ssei and the shop said the trans is locked up. I have never heard this before for a trans. My brother says it will move about a foot then it's like hitting a brick wall. What would cause this?

Possibly a broken CV joint. They need to look at it in the air to further diagnose.

So he towed it to my shop. Going to look at it tomorrow. I hear a grinding sound when in gear. Maybe broken input shaft. How much do you sell used transmissions for?
BTW, the other shop put an axle in already. Didnt fix it.

Broken input shaft would be no movement at all.

Once it got here I tried to move it. It didn't move at all. Just made a grinding noise. Shop is packed today. Don't know if I can get it in to look at it. Tow truck driver said it doesn't roll. I find that hard to believe if the car won't move in gear and the engine still runs fine in gear. Maybe it is an axle binding up. The other shop only replaced one axle.

Ok, I just went out and put it through the gears and in every position including park, it rolls fine. I hear a clicking sound and it looks like the RF axle is not in the transmission all the way. Will have to get it on the lift to see whats going on.

It looked further out than that but will have to look again. If I can get it in the shop today, I will get it on the lift. Certainly sounds like an axle is out. Its grinding when running engine in gear and clicking when I am pushing it, without engine running, in park.

Finally got it in yesterday. The diff exploded. What would cause that? Never heard of these having that problem.

You might get by with just replacing the diff and cover unless it damaged the case.
