So my 2000 SSEi has been garaged for several years. I start it every couple of weeks but I don't drive it. It has about 50,000 miles on it give or take. Always been a second car for me and I just don't drive it anymore except to move it in and out of the garage to get to the lawn tractor.

Today I started it just fine and it ran for about 10 minutes before dying. I thought it ran out of gas so I put a couple of gallons in. There wasn't much gas left in the tank and it is a few years old.

When cranking it catches and then immediately dies. If I start it with wide open throttle it runs but very rough like several cylinders are misfiring. As soon as I drop it below 4,000 RPM it stalls. Bad gas smell from the exhaust.

There are no codes and nothing obvious under the hood. The poor car has not been abused but somewhat neglected sitting in the garage all this time and not being driven. FWIW I'm the original owner, can't believe I've had it for 22 years now. (It's got other problems like no AC, no audio and no interior lights.)

I am going to have it towed to the GM dealer because there are no good independent shops near me unfortunately and the dealer has been pretty good to me for many years FWIW.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. I'm sure the repair will cost more than the car is worth but I want to get it running again.

Figured it out. Finally threw a code after I replaced one of the ignition coils and got it running again. Mass air flow sensor. The old one is missing the sensor element. Not sure if the coil was bad or just coincidence that it started running again.
