Hi guys.
It's been a long time since I last posted here, mostly because I no longer owned an H body car.
However I am looking at a Bonneville for sale on ebay.uk.
It is advertised as a 2000 series 2 model, I'm guessing that's the revised post 1999 car?. UK vendors often misdescribe American cars, either through not knowing much about them or deliberately misleading.
I wonder if anyone would care to take a look at it and tell me their opinion? The ebay code is 164259293, that is on the UK website, ebay.co.uk btw.
I'm after information about the car if possible, American cars are a niche market over here, the asking price is about right if it's in good working order.

Thanks in advance, hopefully I'll be using the forum more often if it's the right car at the right price. :)

Roger.

It's definitely a 200+ model year car. The 250 bhp has to be off since it was 205 hp new.

Car looks like it is in good shape.
Coming out of Texas is a real selling point. (no salt or rust)
I would check one thing out as it looks like the SES light is on.
I believe it says 105,000 miles which is really low for a car 20 years old.
If it was me here in Wisconsin I would pay $5000.00 dollars for it.
I don't know what that equates to in pounds.
Best of luck.

Thanks guys.
I wasn't certain whether it was the up to 1999 model or the post 2000 one. Perhaps that's why the vendor called it a series 2?
I checked out the specification for the SLE model, I'm guessing the lettering on the fender is correct. And yes, it's 205 bhp.
Someone has put a K&N air filter on it, a negative point in my opinion, my previous H Bodies, a 1986 Olds 88 and 1988 Buick Le Sabre had ample performance with much less power. I like my cars to be as they left the factory.
In the UK amber turn signals operating independently from other lights are required, it looks like that has been done well and unobtrusively.
I have been told by the seller the a/c works well, an important point for me and even more so for my wife. :)
I think the body is in good shape, and parts for American cars are remarkably cheap, comparable to to most UK mainstream cars if you don't mind waiting for shipping from companies such as Rock Auto.
I shall be putting a bid in, £2400 is about $3000 at current exchange rates.

Wish me luck, and thank you once more for your replies.

Roger.

my 96 SSEi had a series 2 first revision. the ebay car pics are of a 2000 - looks clean - if you can get it on the road for 3500-5000 canadian, I woul go for it.the car is 20+ years old - you got to check it out very well

Yeah, the 3800 series thing also depends on the country of origin too. In Australia, the LN3 is their Series 1 and our Series 1 (L27/1st gen L67) is their Series 2.

For North American cars, Series 1s were in 92-95. 95 was a cross over year where the Series 2 L36 was first available, 1st gen Series 1 L67s were still used and Series 1 L27s were still used in Regals and vans. 96 was the first year of the 2nd gen Series 2 L67 and only Series 2s were available moving forward. The series 3s were available 2004+.

Good luck with the negotiations.

Thanks again for your responses.
But the car has been withdrawn from sale.
Oh well, keep on with my Chrysler then,

Roger.
