I just bought a 2005SLE in real nice shape.
Color is a pearl white and it has 102K on it.
My question is this.
It has an aftermarket remote start on it.
I am not a fan of add on after market products.
I plan on taking it off as my wife and myself will not use it.
My son had one on his Bonneville and after 2 years it must to have shorted out.
His battery kept dying every morning and I had him disconnect it and it took care of the problem.
The weird thing on my car is that the buzzer does not work with the key in the ignition and the door open.
It also does not buzz when the lights are on and you shut off the car and open the door.
Is it possible that this remote start has something to do with it?
Or is it another issue.
Thanks.

my 2000 came with a xm reveiver - I dont use it but leave it alone cause everything works.

the chimes aren't a big deal - you dont know what the last guy did

did you check the chime module itself?

There is no chime module in the 2000+ Bonneville. Chimes are produced by the factory radio by modules signalling over the Class 2 Serial Data Bus to sound a chime. If someone installed an aftermarket stereo but did not add an aftermarket chime module, no chimes will be heard. Personally, I think they are important because it may be the only thing that alerts you to a problem while driving down the road. If the door and key in ignition chimes aren't working, my bet is that the other more important system warning chimes aren't either.

The problem is solved.
I had my radio up by Andrew to get new bulbs put in it.
When I got the radio back and put it back in the car the buzzers started working again.
I did not realize that the security system or the warning buzzers are connected through the radio.
Learn something new every day.

The security system is a separate system with its own module. All the warning chimes (door open, key in ignition, any alerts on the instrument cluster, etc.) are all generated using the radio.

The radio has its own security built in. It prevents installing it in a different vehicle without a procedure to unlock it. This has nothing to do with the vehicle theft deterrent system.

O.K.
Thanks for the info.
Just out of curiosity where is the security system module located on my 2005 SLE?

The PASS-Key III module is in the instrument panel, to the left of the radio, behind and underneath the ignition lock. It isn't really easy to access.
