So I just bought a 2002 sle, love the car so far but on warmer days right after I start it (no matter the temperature of the car) the throttle sticks. My wife doesn't want to drive it right now because of it and I'm not really sure where to start. I was thinking the throttle cable but wanted your all's input.

hi, welcome to the club !!

please be more specific about 'sticks': see if the butterfly plate moves freely and closes properly

Like I have to put a lot more pressure then it should take to get the pedal to move and it's causing the throttle plate to (snap) open.

Also it only does this when it's warm outside then it doesn't happen again until I turn the car off and then back on. Then I have to put a little more pressure to get the pedal to move. Once that's done it's very little pressure afterwards.

My throttle started to stick right after my upper intake failed the last time. I would pull the snorkel off the throttle body and air box and take a peak in there to see if it moves freely and if there is any sludge.

I did that today and it's a metal screen that isn't removable

That's the MAF screen. There's a removable snap ring holding it in. At least that is the case with earlier 3800s. I think that still applies.

Your problem could just be buildup. Get some sensor safe throttle cleaner, hold the throttle open by hand and spray the cleaner liberally in through the screen. Open/close the throttle a bunch of times. Let it soak for a while. Maybe take the idle air control valve out and spray some in through there. It's probably best to take the throttle off to clean it, but not entirely necessary to get it clean enough to unstick it.

you dont have to remove that screen yet: use the throttle cable to open and close the B plate
you can also inspect the pedal linkage to see if its binding somehow
get helper to work the pedal while you look for issues
