Still having my random "no crank" issue. I've noticed a connection between the "service engine soon" light and the issue. When you turn the key to ON, if the SES light is on, the car will start. If it isn't, the car won't. If you sit with the ignition in the ON position and wait (maybe 15 second, maybe two minutes) you will hear the fuel pump prime and the SES light will come on and the car will start.
I've also noticed the outside mirrors and climate control assuming different "memory" positions. And my fog lights won't work (but may work next time I start the car).
Starting to think body control module (BCM) or a data bus problem.
Ideas? Thinking back, this issue started when it started getting cold, but I also had the glove box out to change the passenger side heat actuator AND I had the driver seat bottom out attempting to fix the hested seat. Wondering if I disturbed something.

There is no code. The light coming on is part of the bulb check before start. But it doesn't always come on. So it's reading something, not just a bulb check. Did it today leaving work. Turn key to start and Check Engine Soon light didn't come on and car wouldnt crank. Waited about 30 seconds and the light came one and it would crank.

My brother in-law was basically having the same problem on his 2001 SLE.
Turned out the ignition switch and the exciter ring were bad.
Went to LKQ and got one and put it in and he no longer has the problem.
Should also mention that car has 353,000 miles on it.
Not sure this is your problem but just a thought.
