Hi all.

So over the last 3 days, I noticed my car is leaking something. I don't know what it is. The stuff has no smell, is clear and has a rainbow look to it (like some sort of chemical is leaking). I can tell you that it is not oil, coolant, windshield washer fluid, or gas. The drips that I noticed yesterday looked like it was dripping down from the front passenger side of the car, perhaps still in the engine bay area.

Note: my brake lines were redone 2-3 years ago. A power steering leak was fixed 4 years ago. Fuel lines look like they need to be replaced soon, but is not near the area where the fluid is leaking. Also, I need to replace my front motor/transmission mount.

I have no codes; the car is performing like it should.

Any help will be appreciated.

How are you so sure it is not oil? When I was reading up on these things on the car complaints website, it looks like some owners had problems with an oil leak onto the exhaust, sometimes causing fires. Is there any burning smell? I do not think it is real likely though.

About the PS leak, four years is plenty of time for another leak to start. Maybe the other hose finally is giving way.

When you do your scheduled fluid checks, maybe once a week, just check the PS fluid when the car has been driven a few miles and make note of exactly where the fluid is. Not just "within range" but a precise level.

Also with the car in idle and warm, look under it and see if you notice a small drip anywhere. Fluid leaks are annoying. About the only thing you can do is closely monitor fluids to find the one.

That oil leak came from under the valve cover (during hard braking) and onto the hot exhaust manifold, which could result in a fire. My car has evidence of this happening, although I have no recalls associated with my VIN.

My leak seems to be coming from the front passenger side of the car, which is why I think it might be PS fluid. Not sure though. I will go through a more in depth look at the fluid levels over the next couple of days, as I am (finally) off work for a while.
