Wondering what the difference is between the 3.8 SC fuel pump and the 3.8 non SC and N* fuel pumps? A Bonneville SLE and GXP use the exact fuel pump, yet the SSEI is a different fuel pump.

The reason I am asking is I installed a DELPHI fuel pump in my 2001 SSEI a few months back, and would like to move it to my 2005 SLE and was surprised to find the part is different.

I believe the ssei pumps flow at a higher rate, as the supercharged motors require more fuel than the N/A motors do. The L67 has larger injectors, 36lb/hr vs I believe 22lb/hr in the L36, so the L67 requires the larger fuel pump to feed the injectors. I'm not sure if the larger pump would cause any problems on the L36 or Northstar, or if the fuel pressure regulator would keep things in check.

As Jfridge92 said, the SSEi pump operates at higher pressure and volume. It also operates at a slightly lower voltage.
Don't think your GXP would be able to run right.

You can read the specs for the 2 on Delphi's online catalog pages, on the buyer's guide tab.

No.
The SE and SSE and LeSabre share the same pump as the GXP but the SSEI does not.
If you saw a listing on Rockauto where it states otherwise, tell us what specific year Bonneville you looked up and saw that

As far as pressures go,

L67 Pumps should run 53 - 59psi
LD8 Pumps should run 41 - 47psi

However, in all my GM parts lookups I have, I am coming up with part# 19180117 for all... For SSEi, SLE, and GXP

So you may have to go to the dealer to make sure that you get the right one. I've found what I can access through the intertubez isn't always right and that the official SPO has more detailed options. So what is on RockAuto probably isn't right. I've run into the HO2S's a lot.

FWIW, the online ACDelco catalog cross-indexes GM 19180117 to Part Number: MU1793 and lists MU1791 as the naturally aspirated engines' fuel pump.
Isn't ACDelco the parts division of GM ?

Not sure how the actual business arrangment is, but AC Delco makes/supplies parts to GM. GM will take their part and assign their own number in the SPO. Every part has it's own unique number. Even if you have 4 identical bolts, each will have a part number. At least that is the way it was a couple years ago. They may have streamlined things a little since.

At the same time, AC Delco also sells the same part, under their own brand, and as such they can have their own part number out on the free market also.

Thanks for the detailed explanation.
I had wondered why there were sometimes GM parts numbers and ACDelco parts numbers for the same parts.

Good stuff.

My question is what is the risk if any of running a higher than called for psi fuel pump (putting a L67 in a vehicle that requires a LD8)? Is it like running 93 octane in a vehicle that can run 87 octane, or is it something that is going to cause fuel distribution issues?

Not on these cars that have fuel pressure regulators. You'll just be sending more fuel back to the tank through the return system.

Here is how I looked them up. I just looked at the first one which was the Ultra Power and that one is listed as the same for all 3 cars but when you switch to the Delco it lists a different number for the SSEi. so technically they are different, but maybe the ultra just uses the higher pressure pump and the regulator makes it work for the others.
