Going on 3 years with this car very little problems. Currently 186k miles. The rear windows have never worked but the locks have. Never been an issue. Well in the last few weeks I have lost the a/c blower motor, drivers side window quit, locks on back doors quit working, and cigarette lighter lost power, and motor started running rough.

I tracked motor issue to bad plug wire arcing off manifold. Could this arcing have caused my other issues or am I just having a bad month.

1. the a/c- it appear that it is getting power so I'm thinking the motor is bad and from reading other threads I'm not looking forward to changing it.

2. I pulled the drivers seat and went after the corrosion problem for the back windows today. I didn't see any corrosion at all but still removed the splice and reconnected the wires. I checked every fuse and relay I could find that might apply to this problem but all look good. Any ideas I'm stumped and could use help. I've looked through a bunch of threads but can't find anything else. Could the main switch in the drivers door be bad? How could I test it?

thanks folks for any help.....

Swat the blower motor or kick it when it is turned on and see if that allows it to start, if so it's bad brushes, time to replace the blower.

For the windows and locks, sounds like you main switch module on the drivers door is dead, another common problem.

I tapped the blower gently with a deadblow...then not so gently...nothing....

Hope to get windows first....starting to get hot here and only one window opens....lol

will head to pull apart Monday and see if I can get what I need.....is switch module the black box or the actual switch box that sticks up thru door?

You're looking for the actual switch that sticks through the door. It is very easy to remove too, stick a butter knife between the door and the switch from the back side, push it in and gently pry up to release the clip and it pops right up.

I would suggest buying one from Andrew on here, harofreak00 is is username, www.bonnevillesunlimited.com is his website. He will make sure you get a known tested good unit whereas a salvage yard you may get a bad one and no chance for return.

For the blower motor the next thing would be to check to see if it is getting power on all speed settings, the wiring diagram is floating around in one of my old threads that tells you what wires are positive and negative. If no power is present then the blower control module is the likely suspect.

That is for an '03, but it should be similar at least for voltage to the motor. Make sure you have a good ground as well.

Yes, usually when the switch goes bad the door locks don't function either from the button, I haven't seen a case where they did function with a bad switch but I would imagine it's possible.

Is the switch a guaranteed known working one? I was stumped and ripped my dash and door panel apart because I got a bad one, was sent a known good tested one and fixed my issues.

hi, the master door switch on my 2000 controls the windows, locks and mirrors
please check to see if door lock-out works along with door locks and mirrors- also, I think the memory of mirrors wont work if the switch is bad-- mine did not

if all the above dont work, I guess its safe to assume the switch is bad-- conversely, if some functions work, you are back to assuming it is other than the switch

is it true that the drivers window and fuel pump share a common ground?
