My son's 2000 SSEi has been give me the flux with a parasitic battery drain (sometimes will stay charged for 4 day, other times it will drain overnight). Took it to an Auto Electric specialist in Chicago who had the car for over a week and ran numerous test. He finally told me it was the radio was bad and this destroyed the battery. Replaced the radio with a new aftermarket unit and a new Interstate battery. Lately, the Bonne has been giving me symptoms of a bad crankshaft position sensor. Sometimes she stalls while driving, for instance, yesterday I drove her about 40 miles smooth as a newborn baby's, well you know what I mean. I made it approximately 4 blocks from home and she cut off while driving, no warning. Put her in neutral started right up then cut off numerous times before I pulled into the garage. Several weeks ago I thought this was the Camshaft was the culprit so I replaced it. Daughter has a 2000 LeSabre so I've been swapping parts to try to figure out the problem, but to no avail. OK, I've replaced the following parts on the Bonne: Intake gaskets, elbows, again battery and camshaft sensor, brakes, suspension parts, fuel pump and filter, oil and air and filters, msd coils, AC plugs, Belden wires, cleaned the MAF sensor and swapped it twice with used ones, and all hoses. I believe that's it. She throws no code. QUESTION I own an '89 BLT (Buick LeSabre T-Type) w/L67 swap from an '97 Bonne SSEi. I had the T-Type's PCM tuned by DHP (Don't know if they are still around) around, 2001. Can I swap PCM's? Oh!, also yesterday when I started the Bonne the new radio didn't come on at all. I checked the radio, ecm and accessory fuses, and all were fine. I noticed the RAP (#46/back seat) and (#34/under hood) relays were a bit warm so I changed them with extras I had around. When I got back in the car the radio came on and is working fine now...Sorry for the long post. Any advise as to how I should proceed. Thanks in advance, -TuType

Well, the only thing I can suggest is possibly the ICM (it's under the 3 coil packs). On the '92 I have, when it would fail, the car would die, wait a minute or two, then it would fire right up, no DTC, SES. It could also be the Fuel Pressure Regulator, fuel pump, or fuel filter, among other things. As for the PCM, I don't know, someone else will have to take that one and any more suggestions on what could be causing the car to not run. - BC

I have a ssei and had the same problem you described and it was the crankshaft position sensor. Did your rpm ever drop to 0 while the car was moving

It is the crank shaft sensor that you'll want to replace.

Agree with crankshaft position sensor. I don't recall ever hearing of a bad cam sensor on these cars or at least a bad one causing a stalling issue while running.

I am pretty confident you can't swap the '97 PCM into the 2000. I would try swapping the ICM with the LeSabre or the BLT first just to see though first as a failing ICM can also cause this issue.

Much thanks to everyone and this forum. I just replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor, so time will tell if that was the problem. Never thought of swapping the PCM from the 2000 LeSabre, but may try it. Just FYI. A bad Camshaft can and has stopped the motor from running. On the 2000 LeSabre I replaced the ICM, Coils w/MSDs, wires, upper & lower intake gaskets, you know the normal stuff that goes wrong on the 3800s before I finally changed the Camshaft. I thought the same thing that only the Crankshaft will shut the car off, but I found out not so. Again, I appreciate all the help. Oh, the tee vacuum line on the FPR has also come off and I didn't notice until today.

God Bless!

The car will not even start with the LeSabre's PCM, so don't even waste your time.

Ok. I didn't think so. Thanks. Last question about this. If I got a PCM from the yard would I have to deal with the Stealership for anything once I swap the PCM? Also, is it a must that I get one from the same car, 2000 Bonneville SSEi?
