I have an '01 SSEi. The system is not working, the compressor comes on but does not actually create much pressure at all. At one point, the system wasn't working, so I took the compressor apart and tried to fix it. Turns out that the compressor was fine, but the switch that mounts to the rear end to tell the compressor when to turn on is not working. I thought you could air up the shocks by using the inflator valve in the trunk. I guess I assumed that all the air lines were tied together. Without a working compressor, is there a way to inflate the shocks without running new air lines, or replacing the whole system? If not, does anyone want to quote me a price for a working used compressor and the leveling sensor that fits on the rear end to tell the compressor on and off?
If someone has a good set of instructions for repairing the compressor, or if there is a rebuild kit for it, I would love to try to repair mine. I actually think I may have some parts installed incorrectly.

Thanks guys. I like to keep this thing as original as possible - but I also like to eat on occasion, so anything you may be able to provide that might make it possible to repair instead of replace the system would be appreciated.

I had a 98 SSEi that the compressor went out on. I bought a kit online (sorry don't remember where) that basically included new lines and a T. I ran the lines from the shocks to to the T and then to the air valve in the trunk. Whenever I wanted to raise the rear I just hit that valve with my air hose. Worked like a charm. It was a very cheap fix and very easy to undo if you ever come across affordable stock parts.

Great idea.
Thanks,
I think I'll do that until I can find the replacement parts at a u-pull salvage yard near me. Those places are great!! We have 2 here in Savannah and I love being able to learn how to take the parts off on something other than my car! Also, you get to keep the nuts, bolts clips and whatever other parts you might loose while working on the car.

It's part number AK29 at advance. Used it on my 96.
