This is for the 2001. Under the hood, drain the coolant and remove the heater hoses from the core. Remove the lower dash hush panels, left and right, remove the console, (pop off the dash trim, remove the 4 screws that hold the console to the dash, use a 10mm wrench to remove the 2 screws at the back of the console - you can get to them by moving the seats all the way forward, remove the shift knob, remove the trim piece with the heated seat switches and remove the trim piece around the shifter - it snaps out, disconnect the wiring harness to the console at the front left, remove the 2 screws that hold the shifter down - then the console will slide back and lift out.) remove the auxillary air distribution duct adaptor, it just pulls off, remove the 2 air distributor duct screws they are hex screws that face downward, the right one is hard to get out and does not need to be replaced, remove the air distributor duct. Remove the heater core heat shield screws and the heat shield, then remove the heater core cover screws and then the cover. Then remove the retaining screw from the strap from the heater core and it will come out.

Not nearly as bad as i thought it would be i have already done most of that. I have a heater core on the way but it won't be here till next week. For now i'm gonna bypass the heater core and just loop the hose back from the front cover. Will there be any problems from this?

How do you get to the Heater Core in a '00?

Same way?

I think mine's bad too (can barely get Lukewarm air no matter the temperature outside).

The 00 will be the same as an 01. The only difference i could see is if you happen to have bench seats.

There are many other things to check for lack of heat. Start with the basics first before replacing the core. A new core won't help if your thermosat needs to be replaced.

You can bypass it and hook the 2 hoses together or just plug the ends of them.
