Haven' tried this but he says about 25$. Imagine its really a bit more. Never worked with lead.

What you guys think? See the you tube flick below...

Melting the lead right next to the gas door would make me slightly nervous. But he came out of it just fine. Only other safety precaution would be to wear gloves, and do this in a well ventilated area.

His material guestimate seems reasonable to me.

Ya I was thinking that too, I'd probably drop the tank before I attempted it. Lead is hazardous but I think its a better fix as long as you take precautions. He should mention the hazards as well.

He does not realize that the water comes in through cracks inside the gas door so water will just pool up inside again and the areas outside his repair will eventually rust through again. You can't inhibit all the rust by just using a brush in the holes he made. Working with lead like he is doing should only be done if you are wearing a air fed mask and you keep gloves on.

Yeah I'm looking at some of the other repairs for this on the H-body / GM foam seal issue. That was a different vehicle in the link and the rust starts lower under the door. I think its better to knock out all the metal where the GM foam seal is and see what can be done after that. Some of the rust I have is coming from the area inside the door, wish there was a fender to remove. You can buy primed replacement front fenders for about 50$. I still like lead for this though, no moisture can attack it.

No prob mrrcom. Don't forget the baking soda when you're done and holler back here and say how it went.
