Hey all I have a highway shake going on at 60mph+ and was wondering if it could be the front wheel bearing. 10,000 miles ago I totally replaced everything on the front end: sub frame bushings, rack, lower control arms, sway bar bushings/ links (Energy Susp), outers, and drivers wheel bearing. The passenger wheel bearing has a little play in it, up/down and side to side. Everything else is fresh and tight.

Thanks!

Anything that is loose in the suspension/steering/drive-line can cause a vibration.

2000+ bonnevilles are notorious for highway vibrations. It was even noted in a TSB. Make sure your tires are the correct pressure. The original factory tires were specially balanced to avoid this but those tires are no longer being made. A tire with a softer sidewall may help. The first step is to have your wheels/tires balanced with a Hunter Road Force Balancer. Put the two most balanced ones on the front. If the problem still persists, it may be necessary to replace the lower control arms. Since you already did the control arms, I would also replace the wheel bearing.

I rotated the tires and it is the same. The shimmy was barley noticeable when I finished the front end wok and has gotten more pronounced over the past 10,000 miles. I ordered a Raybestos wheel bearing and will see how it goes.

Thanks!

I had the shimmy on my 2002 sle when I bought it used in April of 2013 with 102k. I got new wheels because the stock wheels were bad, balanced tires, alignments, checked all front end and suspension parts, installed new brake rotors, pads, front struts and rear shocks. All this stopped most of the shimmy but a small amount remained.

Well then I changed out the ATF fluid and bingo the shimmy was gone!!! The 2000+ bonnies have this problem and you got to keep trying things until you have eliminated everything you can think of. Good luck with this!

Everything on the front end is new with <10,000 and the Trans is a fresh rebuild as well. I did the wheel bearing yesterday and still shakes at 60ish.

Try a road force balance as suggested above.
