How in the world do you remove those two lines from the under side of the trans? is it some kind of weird disconnect? or do the nuts actually turn and come off like normal?

Carefully pull the plastic stop ring back. There is a thin C-clip holding the line in, use a pocket screwdriver to pry it up. The line then just pulls straight out.

At least, that's the return line (pointing toward the rear of the trans). I didn't need to mess with the output line.

Ah yeah everything is so so dirty.
BUT when i went looking around for a socket for the drive nuts I did pick this kit up at HF

oh god.... im so dumb

all this time i was thinking it was a tiny tiny tiny ring BETWEEN the line and that nut... i took a freakin picture to show to a coworker. i zoomed way in on the picture a between the rust and dirt i see a shiny clip.
