On the old site there was a way a owner could lub the intermediate shaft without going to a dealer.
Does anyone remember it? 2000SSEi 3.4 pulley.

Try Techinfo (just like the old site) link at the top and bottom of the page.

This tip belongs to Archon.
Remove the plastic panel below the steering wheel. You will see the steering shaft near the firewall. A black rubber sleeve is covering the intermediate shaft area. Use a utility knife to slice open the rubber sleeve. With a syringe, lube the shaft with some 30w oil. Put a hose clamp or zip tie around the rubber sleeve, replace the plastic panel, and you're all done.
This has worked for me for about nine months so far. Give it a day or so of driving to get everything good and lubed.

Bob, I'd like to encourage people to use the Techinfo article, which is very specific and illustrated very well. The link is provided above.
