Sometimes i start up my car and see very light smoke coming out from the bottom of the engine towards the front. It doesnt have a bad smell. Does any one have a clue what that is, by the way, my check engine light is on.

And my SC belt is off. Do you think this prob is bad or minor.

You've mentioned your supercharger belt in at least 2 other topics. Please stick to one of those in order to get that question asked.

This doesn't seem to be an electrical problem, so I'll move it to the proper section for you.

You need to be more specific with your observations.
What color is the smoke.

It could be your SC belt burning and coming off due to a failed idler pulley. :???:

Could be an exhaust leak.....????

Scan and tell us what the code is.

Let's cover the code in his OTHER topic in this section and stick to the smoke only. This is going to get confusing very quickly.

does the smoke have a sweet smell? if so it's probably coolant. Did you have your rad flushed anytime in the past week?

i second the radiator coolant. When i got hit in the front end and drove my car to my uncles shop 5 miles away, it smoked and smelled sweet, but like a funny sweet smell. I pulled over to check the engine and i saw rad fluid leaking.

even little bits of rad fluid sitting on hot parts of the engine will cause smoke until it is burned off.

it takes 5 minutes, just stop by. have them take a look at the smoke too. they may not be the best, but they might offer some insight.

Please discuss scanning and scantools in your OTHER topic to keep things properly on track.

If the smoke starts IMMEDIATELY after starting the car, it's not likely coolant. The first thing that heats up on start is the exhaust manifolds, and the only thing that can get on them to smoke is engine oil.

If the smoke starts later (after warmup) it could be coolant. You'll rarely see trans fluid smoke, as it tends to normally leak and drip down low where it can't get on anything else. Ultimately, it's best to clean the engine with a good degreaser, then after it dries, start the car and look for the smoke. Follow any leaks upward until you find the source.

As with most leaks, until you tell us where it's coming from, there's not much we can do.

You're not making this very easy on us. You're being far too vague.

How did you arrive at the conclusion that it is the intake manifold gasket? Further, which intake manifold gasket are you referring to? I assume you mean the lower intake manifold gasket, as if the top one wasn't sealing, you'd most likely have a horrible vacuum leak. If this is the case, you need to get them replaced as soon as possible. Replacement of the plastic LIM gaskets while running dexcool is recommended every 80-100k. Without dexcool, you're looking at more along the lines of 100-120k, and with aluminum gaskets, I'm not sure we've established a good average for longevity.

Regardless, as I said, they need to be replaced now if they are bad, and if they haven't been replaced before, then they need to be done without question.

It would be somewhat helpful for you to inform us of additional vital details of the vehicle when starting a new topic. Some members, such as myself, are not familiar with your car's mileage, current issues, current maintenance completed, etc.
